Preparing Atferd
Preparing Atferd
The Atferd Framework
Every Atferd engagement follows the same five-step framework — from the first conversation to a documented outcome review. Transparent, time-bounded, and clinician-directed at every stage.
Five Stages
The Atferd Framework is the same across all client types — families, students, and school partners. What changes is the context. The rigour stays constant.
Initial Consultation
30–45 minutes
A private, no-pressure conversation with a senior clinician. We listen before we recommend — and we never ask you to complete forms before we've spoken. The goal is to understand your situation clearly and honestly.
Clinical Assessment
1–2 sessions
Where warranted, a formal evaluation using validated, standardised measures. This is not a box-ticking exercise — it is a thorough clinical picture of the individual. Results are explained in plain language, with space for questions.
Structured Care Plan
Agreed within one week of assessment
Goals are set collaboratively — aligned across the individual, their family, and their school context where relevant. Every care plan is clinician-directed, time-bounded, and built around measurable milestones, not open-ended commitments.
Active Support
Ongoing — frequency agreed per plan
Clinical programming delivered through structured sessions, coordinated family outreach, and — where schools are involved — embedded practitioner contact. Support is consistent, not episodic. The same clinician stays with the case.
Progress Review
Quarterly, or at agreed milestones
Outcomes are measured against the goals agreed at the care plan stage. Reviews are documented and shared with the family. Where goals have been met, a clinical exit plan is prepared. Where they have not, the plan is adjusted — not abandoned.
Privacy & Confidentiality
Confidentiality is not a policy statement at Atferd — it shapes how every session is documented, every record is stored, and every communication is handled.
All records, communications, and session notes are held on a HIPAA-compliant infrastructure. No client information is stored in unsecured systems.
Nothing leaves Atferd without explicit written consent. School and family coordination only happens with the client's agreement at each stage.
You work with one assigned senior clinician throughout. No transfers, no brief handovers, no loss of context between sessions.
Atferd does not share assessment results, progress notes, or clinical summaries with any party — including schools — without explicit, specific consent.
HIPAA notice: Atferd operates as a HIPAA-covered entity. All client health information is protected under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. You have the right to access your records, request amendments, and know exactly how your information is used. A full privacy notice is provided at intake.
Common Questions
If your question is not answered here, a clinician will respond to any direct enquiry — usually within one business day.
Send a direct enquiryHow long does the process take?
It depends on the presenting situation. An initial consultation and assessment can be completed within two weeks. Active support programmes typically run for one to two academic terms, with a review at the end of each. Some clients require shorter, focused engagements; others benefit from longer-term support. We set realistic timelines at the care plan stage.
Do you work with schools directly?
Yes — where clinically indicated and with explicit family consent. School coordination is offered as part of the care plan, not assumed. For institutional partnerships, schools work with Atferd through a dedicated embedded model. Individual family clients retain full control over whether and how their school is involved.
What happens at the initial consultation?
A senior clinician speaks directly with the family or individual. We ask about the situation, the history, and what the person hopes for. We do not ask you to complete lengthy intake forms before this conversation. The consultation is private, no-cost, and carries no obligation.
Will my child's school be informed?
Only if you agree. School coordination is always subject to family consent and clinical alignment. Atferd will never contact a school without explicit written authorisation from the family.
Is the initial consultation really free?
Yes. The initial consultation is no-cost and non-binding. We believe families deserve an honest conversation about whether Atferd is the right fit before any commitment is made.
No forms before we speak. No commitment required. A senior clinician will listen to your situation and outline the most appropriate care pathway.
